About Metcar®
About Metallized Carbon Corporation and the Board Dryer Industry
- Metallized Carbon has been manufacturing carbon graphite materials since it opened in 1945.
- We have been supplying the board dryer industry with our bearings and assemblies for more than 40 years.
- Metcar® is the only major carbon graphite-bearing supplier to the board dryer industry that manufactures its own material. As such we control the quality of our product from the raw materials to the finished product.
- The sales and technical staff of Metallized Carbon are in regular contact with board
dryer manufacturing plant sites. From this interaction, problems that the plant sites
encounter in everyday operation come to light. Through the efforts of our technical and
design staff, Metallized Carbon works to solve those problems.
- As the manufacturer of our own materials, Metallized Carbon is constantly developing new grades of material to address the ever-changing needs of the board dryer industry. In the past two years, a new family of oxidation resistant grades, named Resistox®, has been developed to answer the industry's need for materials that can withstand the higher temperatures demanded by those seeking increased production.
- Metcar has designed and specified materials for all of our bearing and assembly hardware.
Patents have been issued for most of the brackets and bearing retainers we sell.
- In the past three years Metcar has developed several new products which aid maintenance personnel in reducing down time and increasing production. The development of our patented HS series of split bearing cartridges has significantly reduced the time previously required to replace a bearing on the drive side of the oven. In conjunction with the HS bearings, Metcar has also developed our Hinged Frame Hanger to simplify bracket replacement on the drive side of the oven.
- With the development of our new 300-EZ Clip Spring, bearing changeover in any 300 Series
hanger can be accomplished easily & quickly, even in areas where space is limited.
- After hearing complaints about the amount of lift on a roller shaft required to change a bearing in a 300 Series bearing assembly, Metallized Carbon personnel worked with maintenance people to develop the 302-C-EZ hanger frame. This significantly reduces the effort and time required to replace a bearing on this type of bracket.
- Metallized Carbon supplies more grades of bearing material, more styles of bearing cartridges and more types of assembly hardware than anyone else in the industry.
